Scones
Ingredients:
- 12 oz plain flour
- 4oz Trex
- 2oz granulated white sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- pinch of salt
- ¾ pt milk
- Preheat oven to 200 degrees C.
- Rub the fat into the flour until it breadcrumbs.
- Add the salt, baking powder and any additional ingredients. (glace cherries, sultanas, chocolate chips etc)
- Scant the milk and mix slowly to form a thick pastry like dough.
- Roll out to around 2 inch thick, cut into rounds.
- Place on baking tray and wash with milk.
- Bake for around 15 minutes until lightly browned. Transfer to cooling rack and resist temptation to munch until at a reasonable temperature.
Enjoy with butter and jam. Maybe cream…maybe just peanut butter…or marmite.
