Scones

Ingredients:

  • 12 oz plain flour
  • 4oz Trex
  • 2oz granulated white sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • ¾ pt milk
  1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees C.
  2. Rub the fat into the flour until it breadcrumbs.
  3. Add the salt, baking powder and any additional ingredients. (glace cherries, sultanas, chocolate chips etc)
  4. Scant the milk and mix slowly to form a thick pastry like dough.
  5. Roll out to around 2 inch thick, cut into rounds.
  6. Place on baking tray and wash with milk.
  7. Bake for around 15 minutes until lightly browned. Transfer to cooling rack and resist temptation to munch until at a reasonable temperature.

Enjoy with butter and jam. Maybe cream…maybe just peanut butter…or marmite.
