For best results store in a dry, cool place locked away from people who like scones.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>6oz plain flour<\/li>\n<li>6oz self-raising flour<\/li>\n<li>3oz vegetable shortening\/Trex<\/li>\n<li>1oz butter<\/li>\n<li>6oz grated cheese (preferably cheddar or red Leicester) plus extra for topping<\/li>\n<li>8floz semi-skimmed milk, plus extra to wash.<\/li>\n<li>pinch of salt<\/li>\n<li>pinch of pepper<\/li>\n<li>3tsp mustard powder<\/li>\n<li>1.5 tsps baking powder<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Method:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat the oven to 220* C.<\/li>\n<li>Weigh our dry ingredients into a large bowl.<\/li>\n<li>Add the cheese and mix in.<\/li>\n<li>Scant the milk a splash at a time mixing to form a pastry-like dough.<\/li>\n<li>Roll out onto a floured surface around 1 \u00bd inch thick .<\/li>\n<li>Cut into 2 \u00bc inch rounds.<\/li>\n<li>Place on a baking tray lined with grease-proof paper.<\/li>\n<li>Wash the scones with the remaining milk. Sprinkle the remaining cheese, with a little black pepper on the top<\/li>\n<li>Bake middle oven for 12 minutes until golden brown<\/li>\n<li>Place on a wire rack to cool.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A scrummy savoury delight, hot or cold.
