It’s not your conventional, masculine, macho kind of strength that we see on this card. This lady uses gentleness and determination to ease the lion into submission. Above her head we see the same infinity symbol that crowned the Magician, earlier in the deck.
In terms of the Fool’s Journey, we’ve completed the first triad of seven cards, from the Magician to the Chariot. That metaphorical journey through the material world has ended in triumph, and with Strength we begin a new, deeper journey through the world of the psychological. Strength, internal strength, is the necessary prerequisite for this journey, the first thing we’re going to need to sustain us through what lies ahead.
